I just re-read my copy of Deborah Spungen's biography of her daughter Nancy. ("And I Don't Want to Live This Life"). Talk about a "tell all"!! And people complain about Mickey telling "Too Much". Ha! Few biographies by a family member are this explicit. For those who don't recognize the name Nancy Spungen, she was the Nancy in Sid and Nancy in real life,

Yeah Deborah does not hold back. And I don't blame her given all the shit she's probably taken. I just read The Stepford Wives. Apparently, Ira Levin wrote both that and Rosemary's Baby.

I recently finished reading a history of the Grand Old Opry that I bought in early January at Big Lots. Lots of good and previously unknown to me trivia about Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and others; plus, a lot of vintage pictures from over the years.
My review of Mickey's book will be published in tomorrow's Sun Herald, so I'll post a link when that happens. Hopefully, you guys will enjoy it, though I couldn't spend as much print on it as Laurie did, since I had to cram in several other reviews in the same column.

Just started Stephen King's Duma Key, pretty good so far. As far as I remember it's the first King book told in first person.

Come back and tell us what you think of it. I read it and wouldn't mind discussing a bit.

I just finished a book about Farm Aid. A factual book that was at times dry, but had a lot of pictures and interviews that made it interesting. A wide variety of artists have been playing Farm Aid over the years, not just country folks: even IGGY POP played one year!!

I noticed a couple of days ago that Patti Smith's new book, "Just Kids", is #4 on the LA Times bestseller list. Has anyone read it? What did you think?

I read "Rolling Stone's" excerpt, and would like to read the whole thing...

I finished a book called "The Von Bulow affair" a true crime book about how Claus Von Bulow tried killing his wife with an insulin overdose. This occurred in 1980. She died last year. What a horror to spend your life in an irreversible coma. The discription of the of the blueblood society in Newport was quite interesting as well as the criminal aspects of the book.

finishing up a kid's book entitled "The Sea of Monsters," it's book two in a series that debuted at the movies recently with The Lightning Thief, which was book one.
A good one if you like Greek mythology.
